Immersive Sound and Visual Installation
2025
John Wild
All Red Line is an immersive sound and visual installation — a triptych of three videos engaged in sonic dialogue across the gallery’s three walls.
Viewers are drawn into the paranoid, claustrophobic environment of data centres — the physical infrastructure underpinning the internet. The footage traces key data hubs connected by undersea cables between London and Hong Kong, revealing a hauntology of technical objects in which remnants of Britain’s colonial past surface within the architecture of today’s digital networks.
The soundscape is composed from field recordings of digital infrastructures — from Wi-Fi networks to electromagnetic recordings of AI servers in Hong Kong.
All Red Line was presented as part of ReWilding AI: The Radical Mattering of Narrative Ecologies, held at Snap VisLab, Royal College of Art, on 28 March 2025.
